Loading the booking steps…

  1. 1You pick a batch here. Nothing is charged and no card is asked for, because there is nothing on this site that can take one.
  2. 2You get one WhatsApp message with the joining link or the directions to the hall, and two questions: your age, and whether anything hurts.
  3. 3You come to the class. Afterwards you get one message asking how it went, and if you do not reply, that is the end of it.

Two ways in, and they suit different people

One is a sample and one is a start. Picking the wrong one is not a disaster, but they are genuinely different things and it is worth reading both before you choose.

Offer one

One free class, in any batch

One complete class, in any batch, any day of the week, run exactly as a paid class is run: the same teacher, the same order, the same seventy minutes. It is not a shortened taster and it is not a demonstration with a talk at the end.

It is the right choice if you are deciding between three schools, if you have been told yoga would help your back and have no idea what that involves, or if you simply want to see whether being corrected out loud in front of other people is something you can stand.

You may bring one other person. You do not have to say in advance whether you intend to continue, and you will not be asked at the end.

Free. Whichever batch suits you.

Offer two

The seven day morning challenge

Seven consecutive mornings, live, starting on a day you choose. Each session is shorter than a full class and built to be repeatable: joint loosening, a short standing sequence, one breathing practice, and a short savasana.

The point is not to teach you seven new postures. It is that almost nobody fails at yoga because the poses were too hard. They fail at the alarm clock on day three. A week of turning up, with the teacher noticing whether you did, is the part that is hard to do alone.

You will be sent the same short sequence written down at the end of the week, so the practice survives the challenge. Miss a morning and you carry on; nobody is removed for missing one.

Free. Say “challenge” in the message box.

What happens after you sign up

Written out in full, because the reason people hesitate over a free class is rarely the class. It is not knowing what they have just agreed to.

  1. Within a day

    One WhatsApp message

A single message from the teacher confirming the day and the time, and asking two things: your age, and whether a doctor has told you to avoid anything. That is not a formality. It is what decides which version of three or four poses you will be given on the day.

  2. The evening before

    The link, or the pin

If you chose online, you get the video joining link, and it is the same link every week. If you chose the hall, you get a map pin, directions for the last stretch and who to ask for when you arrive. Nobody is left standing outside a locked building.

  3. On the morning

What to wear and what to eat

Loose clothes you can sit cross-legged in, and bare feet. Nothing to eat for about two hours before, and water is fine. If you are joining online, put your mat side-on to the camera about two metres away, so your whole body is in frame rather than your face.

  4. The class itself

About seventy minutes, in a fixed order

Ten minutes sitting and watching the breath. Ten minutes loosening the neck, shoulders, wrists, hips and ankles. Thirty minutes of standing and floor postures, held rather than flowed through, offered at two or three depths so you take the one your body agrees to. Ten minutes of counted breathing. Ten minutes flat on your back in savasana, which is not the bit to skip.

  5. Afterwards

    One message, and then silence

You get one message asking how it went and whether you would like to come again. If you do not reply, that is the end of it. Nobody will phone you repeatedly, nobody will pass your number to anyone, and there is no offer expiring at midnight, because there is no offer.

The one thing worth repeating: nobody will phone you repeatedly. A confirmation, a reminder the evening before, and one message afterwards is the whole of it. If you decide the class is not for you, saying nothing is a perfectly acceptable way to say so, and you can come back to a class months later without explaining where you went.

If you would rather skip the form altogether, message +91 82176 67359 on WhatsApp and you will be booked in the same way. The form exists because some people prefer it, not because a record is needed. Either route, the fees only become relevant later, and they are all on the fees page: ₹3,000 a month in person, ₹3,500 a month online within India.

Questions before a first class

If you came here with a problem rather than an ambition, start with the page written for it: yoga for back pain, yoga for anxiety and stress, yoga for weight loss, yoga for PCOS, yoga for thyroid, or starting yoga after forty. Each one says what helps, what to leave alone, and what the evidence actually shows. If you would rather practise first and read later, begin with Surya Namaskar, all twelve steps, the ten minute morning routine, or the guide to how to start yoga at home.

Is the free class genuinely free, and what is the catch?

It is free and there is no catch, mostly because there is no mechanism for a catch. You are not asked for a card, so nothing can be charged. You are not signed up to anything by attending, so there is nothing to cancel. The reason it exists is simple: yoga teaching cannot be judged from a website, and one hour in a class tells you more than any amount of copy.

How is the free class different from the seven day challenge?

The free class is one class, in whichever batch you choose and on whichever day you can come, with no commitment at all: see what the teaching is like, decide nothing. The seven day morning challenge is a week of consecutive early classes designed to establish the habit rather than to demonstrate it, and it is the better choice if you already know you want to start and the thing you struggle with is doing it on a Tuesday.

I have never done yoga. Will I be the only beginner there?

Almost certainly not, because the free class is the class beginners arrive through. Every posture is given at two or three depths and you are told out loud which one to take. Nobody is looked at, nobody is compared, and there is no point in the class where you are asked to do something you have just watched everyone else fail at.

I live outside India. Which class time do I get?

Put your city or your timezone in the message box on the form and you will be given the slot that lands at a sensible hour where you are, rather than one that is comfortable in Bangalore and impossible in Dubai or Toronto. The morning classes run at Indian times, and there are slots that fall in the evening in the Gulf and the United Kingdom.

Do I need a mat, blocks or anything else?

In the hall, no: mats and belts are there. Online, a mat helps but a folded blanket or a carpet will do for a first class, and you will not be told to buy anything. What actually matters is a bit of clear floor about two metres by one, somewhere you will not be interrupted, and a phone or laptop you can prop up.

What happens to my phone number after I sign up?

It is emailed to the teacher and used to message you about the class. It is not stored in a database on this website, not added to a marketing list, and not passed to anyone. Ask for it to be deleted and it will be. The full detail is on the privacy policy page.
